Plastic Surgery Planning Guide

The internet is a vast resource for someone considering plastic surgery, but the sheer amount of information available can be overwhelming. Our Plastic Surgery Planning Guide provides you convenient access to quality information and resources to assist you on your cosmetic beautiful journey.

There are a lot of aspects of plastic surgery to consider before you go to your first consultation.  We believe it is important to know how to be best prepared, physically and mentally. Plastic surgery isn’t for everyone; there are certain considerations you’ll want to think about, and discuss with your physician before you take the plunge.

Are you considering plastic surgery for the right reasons?

There might be some part of your body that you are insecure about, or that you want to be altered. You may want to look younger or to rejuvenate an aspect of yourself that’s changed with time. There is no reason to be embarrassed about this. Many people are turning to plastic surgery to help them both look and feel their best.

It is important, however, to remember that your plastic surgery is for you. You should never feel pressured into a cosmetic procedure. Ask yourself if you are pursuing your procedure because you want it, or because someone else is pushing for it. Unfortunately, many people turn to plastic surgery to please other people, often a partner. Plastic surgery cannot fix relationships – it is a procedure that should only be performed because you want it so you can feel better about yourself, not because you believe it will please someone else.

Are you a good candidate for plastic surgery?

When you go in for a consultation, you and your plastic surgeon will talk about whether or not you are a good candidate for cosmetic surgery. You may be a good candidate for cosmetic or plastic surgery if you meet the following:

  • You have reasonable expectations for and know the risks of your procedure
  • You are in overall (mental and physical) good health
  • You are at a healthy weight
  • You do not have major health problems such as heart disease, diabetes, or high blood pressure
  • You are not a heavy drinker or smoker

How can you be sure you are choosing the right physician?

Determining the physician who will perform your procedure is one of the most important factors of the plastic surgery process. In the United States, anyone with a medical degree is a licensed surgeon, which means they can perform any surgery on any consenting patient no matter if they are certified in that area of surgery or not. It is important to check and verify a physician’s credentials before you see them.
