Many patients in the Orlando area are turning to IPL Photorejuvenation to treat their skin imperfections, with no downtime required. But what exactly is IPL Photorejuvenation, and how does it work?
What is IPL Photorejuvenation?
The Lumenis® IPL Photorejuvenation is a FDA-cleared treatment that diminishes age and sun spots, freckles, birthmarks, rosacea, and broken capillaries. IPL treatments must be done by an authorized provider or physician. It is important to consult with your physician before undergoing this treatment since it is not right for everyone.
How does IPL Photorejuvenation work?
IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light technology, treats pigmentation and vascular imperfections, resulting in healthier, more beautiful looking skin. During the treatment, pulses of light gently heat the tissue, treating the patient’s skin concerns in a controlled and safe method. The body then naturally removes the treated tissue, and collagen and elastin fiber stimulation will follow. Lumenis® IPL with Optimal Pulse Technology (OPT™) allows your provider to customize the IPL treatment according to your skin type, ensuring your desired results. Sessions typically last around 15-30 minutes.
What should you expect?
Following treatment, you may experience some redness, which usually disappears within a few hours. Makeup may be applied immediately, and you can go about your daily activities. However, it is advised that you stay out of direct sunlight and apply sunscreen for a couple days following treatment.
Some skin issues, such as shallow pigmentation and age or sun spots can be treated with 1-2 treatments. Other complex concerns generally require 2-6 sessions, 2-4 weeks apart for optimal results.
