As Seen on "The Doctors"

Treatments are tailored to each patient’s needs according to the nature and extent of sun damage, skin type and individual requirements for recovery time. The ActiveFX™ procedure is for those with an active, busy lifestyle who want noticeable improvement in the skin’s tone and texture without a lot of downtime.

ActiveFX is a low-density fractional resurfacing procedure ideal for fine lines, uneven pigment, and skin tightening. Most patients achieve remarkable results and typically experience only 4-7 days healing time – in essence a long weekend. For those men and women with more significant skin damage, and who opt for a longer healing period, there’s MaxFX™, a higher-density procedure that offers profound results for deeper wrinkles and acne scarring where damage has occurred beneath the uppermost layer of skin. As an added benefit, both procedures stimulate of the formation of new, underlying collagen. New collagen formation means better elasticity and support for the skin, as well as continued improvement in skin texture for up to six months after treatment.

UltraPulse Encore, with ActiveFX and MaxFX, has already helped thousands of patients, and is now available here at The City Beautiful Medspa with Dr. Dean L. Johnston, fully trained in the technique. By sharing the news about one of the most effective procedures in aesthetic medicine, we can introduce you to a new era in skin rejuvenation.

What is ActiveFX?

ActiveFX is a fractional laser procedure performed in a single treatment with minimal patient downtime. During the procedure, a high-energy beam of laser light is used to smooth out lines, wrinkles and scars, remove brown spots, and other irregularities. It also stimulates formation of new underlying collagen to continue improvement over time. With fractional laser treatment, only a fraction of the skin’s surface is treated by the laser, leaving small “bridges” of untouched skin. This technique makes the healing process much faster and enables you to get back to normal activities sooner.

What is DeepFX?

DeepFX is a revolutionary fractional laser technology for aged, sun-damaged or scarred skin. The low-down-time procedure uses fractional CO2 laser micro-beams to precisely target the deep dermal layers of the skin. This stimulates a cascade of healing responses that leads to tissue regeneration and new collagen formation throughout the entire treatment area. Because only a fraction of the skin is actually touched by the laser, healing time is limited to a few days.

What you can expect from ActiveFX or DeepFX?

At Dr. Johnston’s practice, we perform the procedure in the office with a topical anesthetic cream that is applied 60+ minutes before the ActiveFX or DeepFX procedure begins. There is some discomfort associated with the procedure, which we work hard to minimize. If your eyelids are treated, you will need to have a ride home. Your homecare (provided with your treatment) will be reviewed with you prior to the procedure.

Depending on the intensity of the treatment, you should be able to wear makeup in about a week. Treatment results are long-term and, with proper sun protection, can persist for many years. Most effects of treatment become visible right away, whereas others – such as new collagen formation – build up gradually and become more evident over time. Therefore, most people look even better 3-6 months after the procedure.
